Hello there, it’s been a while! First of all, happy new year! I hope that 2018 brings you all joy and success. We’ve been celebrating the new year by reflecting on our 2017 accomplishments, as well as some exciting things that are coming up within the year – and I’d like to share some of those things with you!

2017. A year full of so many surprises, yet if you blinked, you probably missed a lot. Since the conception of the company in early 2017, we have brought aboard nine (!!!) extremely talented performance groups, whether it be solo artists or bands reaching as far as upper New Jersey. It has been a treat getting to see what they have accomplished so far. From a business point of view, we were fortunate enough to turn quite a pretty penny in the latest quarter. A huge contributor to that was definitely some of the pitch competitions that were available to us. Through the University of Delaware’s Horn Entrepreneurship Program, M&B Booking was awarded first place for the Phantom Pitch Competition – an event that awarded entrepreneurs competing on the basis of their business models and pitch delivery. Partnerships were also just as important for a small business looking to survive. Our friends at Drexel University continue to provide connections and support through the mutual partnership of M&B Booking and Skylyne Records. On top of that, I worked to connect us with another company conceived out of the Horn Program called GeoSwap. For those unfamiliar, GeoSwap is a mobile application that displays live events and deals that happen in your area – all on a virtual map. Through this acquired partnership, we hope to advertise our artist’s shows to a wider audience by displaying their shows on the GeoSwap app. Our newest signed group was also a big deal for us because they already have quite a reputation out of Philadelphia. Tiny Hueman has been talked about from the mouths of Radio 104.5 Philly’s alternative radio, and Alternative Press – and they’re signed under M&B Booking! So cool!

While business was booming, we saw a lot of positive things happening for our team. M&B Booking acquired a fifth team member in August (me!) and along with the other team members, I helped launch this blog right here and I’m pretty happy about that! In 2017 we were also able to help out our artists quite a bit. We booked shows to Milkboy, Barbary, World Café Live, and Triumph Brewery for the first time in 2017 which is a big milestone for us and our artists. Speaking of milestones, we celebrated some big accomplishments for our artists as well. Marielle Kraft has exploded on the networks of Spotify, Facebook and YouTube. Her newest single, “How Far You Feel” has grossed over 39,000 streams on Spotify, and within the first two days of the accompanying music video being released, it had been viewed over 25,000 times on Facebook and YouTube. I can’t wait to see where the future takes her.

Lots of great things happened in 2017 but we can’t celebrate for too long – there’s even more happening in 2018! Here’s a sneak peek preview of what’s to come for the 2018 edition of M&B Booking:
Hen Hatch – Being a part of the Horn Program at UD has given us some great opportunities and it continues to do so. Right now, we are preparing our application for Hen Hatch; the University’s biggest pitch competition for entrepreneurs. We hope to pitch our company and ideas moving forward to a panel of experienced judges for prizes in the upwards of $20,000! (Maybe then we can finally have custom t-shirts)
Other – It’s time to get creative! I have been pushing the idea to get t-shirts and stickers and all kinds of M&B merch; so look for some of that to be available in 2018.

That’s about it for the big news! Otherwise, we are continuing to book festivals and new places around the area to give our artists the most exposure. We anticipate big things from our amazing artists and I am personally looking forward to an exciting 2018!
